From the new editor

For all those who had been following Tollynewz.com, here comes a few good news this festive season. Last two weeks saw the release of three important Bengali movies—two starring our dear old Prasenjit (Mama Bhagne and Housefull) and one starring the latest Tollygunge heart-throb Dev (Dujone). Raj Chirodini tumi je amar Chakraborty’s new film is nearing completion and is slated to be released post-puja. Aparna Sen is starting her Bengali film Iti Mrinalini on 6 October. For the first time she would be working for Venkatesh Films banner, arguably the most important film production House in Bengal today.
While Tollynewz will be bringing you the latest news of what is happening out here--as it has done always—here is some more to offer. Prasenjit has agreed to write a column for us, as and when he is free from shooting. Being a busy man, his column may be irregular, but his writeups promise to give us a new punch as it will come from the core of the industry. Do let us know how you react to this news.
The second thing that I would like to mention here is that Tollynewz is also up for a major revamp. Gradually you would come to see this. Our news would be more prompt, more insightful and full of the necessary punch. Our editorial team is being revamped and to begin with I have joined as the editorial advisor to Tollynewz. For those who know me as the director of Ek je achhe kanya, Bibar and Nil Nirjane only, I would like to tell me about my background and that should explain why I have been entrusted with the responsibility of revamping this website. I had been a practising journalist for long, having worked in Anandabazar Patrika and The Statesman and was also the first editor of banglalive.com during its initial days. Given my track record, the creators of this website decided to rope me in here. I have agreed with lots of initial hesitation, as I was not sure whether I’ll be able to fulfil what they want.
But still, I have decided to give it a try. Let me know what you want from us and we will try our best to give you that. Hope this is a new beginning from here where all of us would be involved.
Bangla film industry is at its vibrant best now. I see no reason why this website shouldn’t be…
